Overview

How can you lead efficiently and effectively across a multi-academy trust (MAT)? 
This course is designed to enable leaders across a MAT to:

• Develop a shared language and gain clarity about their vision and values

• Articulate their priorities and ambition for the future

• Understand current theories on leadership 

• Collaborate on school improvement

• Strengthen and support high-quality teaching

The course was developed in partnership with Mary Myatt, an education adviser, writer and speaker. 

Audience

The course is suitable for CEOs, senior leaders and managers across primary, secondary and cross-phase MATs. It consists of four sessions, that can be easily adapted to the timings and needs of your school.

Sessions in detail

Session 1 - Establishing trust and revisiting vision and values

Objectives:

  • Revisit the importance of a vision and values 
  • Gain an understanding of the importance of establishing the conditions for trust
  • Consider how to align the vision and values of individual schools within the MAT
  • Understand how to achieve buy-in from colleagues
Session 2 - Leadership models and managing change
Objectives: 

  • Establish leadership profiles and consider the skills you might need to develop further
  • Learn about leadership styles and how they can be context dependent 
  • Identify the levers for change
  • Examine the consequences for these in your own and other settings
  • Explore how learnings can be applied in future situations
