If you’re a new data protection officer (DPO) in a school or trust, use this course to help you understand your role and responsibilities.

This course covers:
- What the role of DPO involves
- How to monitor compliance with the UK GDPR and conduct data audits
- How to develop and review policies, procedures and privacy notices
- Your role in advising and supporting on data protection audits and subject access requests (SARs), including practical steps you can take
- How you can support and advise staff and governors on data protection
This course is designed for new DPOs, such as members of staff who have been newly appointed, or DPOs who haven’t worked in an education setting before. It focuses on the role of the DPO in an education setting, and how to fulfil it. If you’d like to spend more time exploring your responsibilities under the UK GDPR, we recommend you take our ‘UK GDPR for school staff’ course.
